National Emblem

The emblem of the Republic of Angola is made up of a section of a sprocket wheel, which epitomises the workers and industrial production, and the foliage of maize, coffee and cotton, which stands for the peasants and agricultural production.

At the base of this group of elements, there is an open book, symbolising education and culture, and the rising sun that signifies the new Country.

The centre displays a machete and a hoe as signs of work and the commencement of the armed struggle. At the top, the picture of a star denotes international solidarity and progress.

At the bottom of the emblem there is a golden band bearing the inscription “Republic of Angola”.
